Description
For sale isa great saucer made by Meissen in the early to mid 19th century . It is hand painted with Lily of the Valley flower in the center well which looks great, a bit of a gold trim around the edge of the well and rim and the German writing in black script: Sey (nowadays this would be spelled Sei) noch lange die Freude und das Glueck meines Lebens - Be the joy and luck of my life for a long time to come would be a good translation so it was definitely given as a token of affection. It would be pretty much any cup from this period so if you are missing a saucer here is your chance. The center well has a diameter of 1.75 inches so keep that in mind! The saucer is marked with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark underneath as well as an impressed number 8. The piece is about 0.875 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter. It is in great condition with some minor age related wear mainly to the gilding around the well as shown. Germany Unterteller
