    Description

    Meissen Porcelain Painted Gilt on Yellow Covered Bowl
    8.75" x4.25" h,
    1850-1924.
    Round with scalloped edge. Gilt diaper design with gilt corner dots & relief white center dots on yellow ground. Elaborate gilt foliated scrolling with color enamel floral swags & pendants on the cover. Molded twist branch gilt finial.
    Blue underglaze crossed swords with pommels mark of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Meissen with double
    incisions across the mark indicative of slight imperfection or second quality.  Robert Rontgen's
    Book of Meissen
    (1996) deals extensively with issues of mark incisions at different periods of Meissen history.
    Comes with satin lined lift top cloth covered storage box.
